Camping
We spent this whole past weekend camping at the country club (in the camper of course) and I have to say I think Harvey really enjoyed himself! He's an outdoorsman at heart! Friday night, I ran home after work, threw some stuff in the car and headed out to pick up Harvey from RoRo's. We headed around to the pavillion where Allen was waiting for us, along with Chip, Rachel, and Hill. They already had the grill fired up and the boys enjoyed playing while we cooked out. Harvey napped in the stroller and stayed up a little late. Usually, if he stays up late, he still wakes up bright and early! Well, Saturday morning, I saw him up on the monitor at 7:30, layed my head back down, and the next thing I knew I looked at my phone and it was 9:00!..and he was snoozing! We came home and got a few things done here, then spent the afternoon at the lake. Daddy played in the boat and we played in the sand and under the pavillion with Hill. We had a ball. By 7 pm, Harvey couldn't hold his eyes open any longer. Then, Sunday morning I had to wake him up at 8:30 to head home and get ready for church! This wasn't his first time to stay at the camper, but it's been a couple of months. Needless to say, we enjoyed our weekend so much we will be out there much more from now on! I can't wait for cooler weather with bonfires and S'mores!!! :)

TV Time
Harvey is such a little busy body, he has no time for TV! Not that I want him to be a couch potato, but sometimes it's nice to sit still together or to walk out of the room without worrying about what he's getting into. No matter what I've tried, he doesn't bat an eye. Except 1 DVD. I don't even know the name of it. Auntie Jan said her girls loved it, so Peepaw made a copy for us. It's about 15 minutes long, recorded in the 80's or early 90's, and it's a few kids singing those old church songs I remember from my childhood. They are songs like 'Father Abraham', 'Noah's Arc', 'Zacchaeus', 'I'm in the Lord's army', ..... etc, etc. When I press play, no matter where Harvey is, the first beats of music before the actual movie even starts, he stops dead in his tracks and barely moves for the next 15 minutes! It's fascinating to me!!!
He won't sit through it more than once (I've tried hehe) but for those 15 minutes he is entranced. We usually watch it once a day. And they're cute songs, and I probably would've never remembered some of them to teach him but I'm sooooooo tired of those songs!!! Hahaha wish there was anything else we could watch!!! Here are a few pics of our little 15 minute couch potato :)

A Week of Firsts...
Sooooo, the past month has been very traumatic for mommy! Harvey, at 6 3/4 months, decided "I'm tired of being a baby and lying down and sitting still". Around 6 months old he was able to sit without support and started pushing up on his hands and knees, sometimes hands and feet, but didn't look close to moving! Well, the last week in July is when it all took started. Early in the week, I watched Harvey on his video monitor roll around in the bed until he managed to sit up all by himself! He was so proud :) Later that week, on Friday, after he woke up from his nap at RoRo's, he sat up in the bed, grabbed the rails on the side, and stood himself up, as if to say, "ok, you can get me out of here now. I'm all done napping!" Then, on Saturday we went to Oxford for a short getaway with friends (see pics below). Sitting on the floor in the living room of the Pettits house, with all the other chilens, he saw a bright yellow block that he wanted to gnaw on (if you know Harvey you know everything goes into the mouth) and he took off crawling to get it! It was only a couple of "knee steps" away, so in order to see if he realized what he could now do, Chipper politely took the block away and put it a little further across the floor. Apparently it still looked yummy and he took off again. This continued for several minutes...we couldn't decide if it was cruel or not but it was hilarious! Right after that Harvey crawled back to the other side of the room, picked up his bottle he had not finished and rolled over and fed himself! So in 1 week, he sat up by himself, pulled up by himself, and crawled. Needless to say, it was a very traumatic week for me!!!
Needless to say, now he is pulling up on everything, and he has gotten several bumps on the head because of it, but he's a tough little fella! It took him a few days at home to realize what this new mobility would allow, but he is in full force now. You cannot leave the room! His favorite things are cords (especially around the TV) and shoes. For some reason he is obsessed with feet and shoes, not just playing with them, he wants to eat them of course! He will crawl over to you feet in flip flops and bend down to try to eat your toes! It's hilarious. And he can find a pair of shoes hidden anywhere from the knees down! So since we usually take our shoes off right inside the door, we've had to make some adjustments! Trying to teach a 7 month old the word no-no is not an easy task, and I have him playing, standing, and crawling around....I'll add a couple of videos when my internet allows (so slow lately)!

O-Town
On another note, we spent this last weekend with a house full of friends and babies in Oxford. The Pettit's invited all of us to stay at their condo for the weekend to hangout before Oxford gets full of students and football season starts. It was a great quick getaway, no schedule, no plans! I think everyone, including the kiddo's had a ball :) Thanks again Hart, Whitney, and Tanner for being so hospitable. It was so much fun :)

Baptism
Well, I still haven't done very well. I have these plans to brief you on what's gone on over the last 6 months, but it seems impossible to sit that long. At some point I hope to cover the milestones but for now I'm going to pick up where we are before I get even further behind!
Sunday, July 25, Harvey was baptized at our church, First Pres. and of course, he started getting sick 2 days before. 6 months with no illness til now, but that's just how it goes I guess. He ran a low grade fever, had a runny/stuffy nose, a congested cough and just didn't seem to feel well. I was so worried about how he would do up in front of everyone. He did great, looked around and babbled and talked...until the water hit his head that is. He was NOT a fan!!! He squalled and cried through all the pics, so we had to go back the next day to get some cute ones with the flowers! Even though I hate he didn't feel well, it was a great day. Lots of family and friends came to watch and we visited and played all afternoon at RoRo & PopPop's. Here are a few pics....

Blogging: Take 3
Ok, maybe 3rd time is the charm :) I've attempted blogging twice before and I got impatient and refused to learn and gave it up! The last time was to follow our remodel (which is stagnant but still underway) but remodeling half your house at 8 months pregnant was tiring enough. However, I've had family members and friends asking for updates on Harvey so I'll try again. I also love Jan's idea of printing her blog every few months to keep as a family archive, so as she said, there will probably be things at some point that you could care less to know; it's probably more for me to remember later. I cannot promise to blog daily, my goal will be at least once a week, so here goes!
